Scratch - CS 6th Grade

6th Grade MyCS visual block language Scratch

In this class, 6th grade students will explore the basics of coding by using Scratch, a free online tool created by MIT.

Scratch emphasizes fun, visual based learning, and allows students to get started making projects without prior coding experience. These projects can range from animations, music, games, and leaves the student with an end result they can share and enjoy. Scratch teaches the skills needed to move forward, without relying on typing skills, or knowledge of traditional coding languages and syntax.

This type of learning exposes the types of projects made possible by coding and may encourage students to continue learning more about computer science through 7th and 8th grade curriculum.

Upon completion of this class, students will understand the basics of organizing code, and will have several projects to show for their work.
